ET Canada - A Legacy Brand Ready for a New Era

Entertainment Tonight Canada is a Canadian Screen Award–winning, nationally syndicated entertainment news program hosted by Cheryl Hickey and Sangita Patel. Known for exclusive interviews with Hollywood’s biggest stars, the show connects Canadians to pop culture with energy, charm, and credibility.
After years of on-air success, ET Canada needed a brand update—something modern, flexible, and reflective of the dynamic, inclusive entertainment space it covers.
Refresh, Don’t Reinvent
The goal was to refresh the brand without losing its iconic identity. The updated look had to:
Retain brand recognition while modernizing the aesthetic
Align with today’s entertainment media—social-first, fast-paced, visually bold
Reflect the show’s growing emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and audience participation
Work seamlessly across broadcast, print, digital, and social media platforms
Style, Substance, and Texture
Fluid Animation
Bold & Minimalist
Bright & Illuminated
Live & Unpredictable
Contemporary Twist on Art Deco
Multi-textured visual language: Polished metals, glossy finishes, and abstract surfaces reflect how the show captures and mirrors the ever-shifting world of pop culture
Conversational typography: Bold, editorial-style fonts support headlines and content that feel urgent, shareable, and personality-driven
Expanded brand system: New assets, including motion elements, lower thirds, and on-screen transitions, were created to match the tone of modern entertainment media
The refreshed identity is polished yet playful, designed to scale across formats while supporting both celebrity features and behind-the-scenes storytelling.
A Brand That Reflects the Culture It Covers
The result was a visually cohesive, culturally relevant refresh that honored ET Canada’s legacy while positioning the brand for a new generation of viewers.
The updated system supports:
- On-air graphics for daily segments and specials
- Social content optimized for engagement
- Print and promotional materials
- A brand experience that reflects creativity, accessibility, and inclusion

Why It Matters to Locality
This project showcases strength in elevating legacy brands without erasing their DNA. Every visual choice was rooted in intention, flexibility, and cultural awareness—values that are central to how we approach all our design work.
With this refresh, ET Canada didn’t just update its look—it expanded its story.
